- Health (Nursing Homes) (Amendment) Bill 2006: Report Stage (Resumed) (1 Nov 2006)
Jack Wall: I support the amendment in respect of the definition of the Dublin area. The Bill sets a ceiling of â¬300,000 and above on the value of a principal residence outside the Dublin area. An article in the Irish Examiner on 26 October stated the cost of housing in the greater Dublin area, including counties Kildare, home to the Minister of State and me, Louth, Meath and Wicklow, bucked the...
- Health (Nursing Homes) (Amendment) Bill 2006: Report Stage (Resumed) (1 Nov 2006)
Jack Wall: Regardless, it will eat into the value the person received for his or her home. I do not understand why the Minister of State cannot accept that the greater Dublin area comprises four other counties. If this amendment is accepted, it will put some substance into the value of the Bill for families from those counties that are affected.

- Tourism Industry. (26 Oct 2006)
Jack Wall: Last week a concert was held in Dublin and the hotels racked up their prices for it. One hotel that I have frequented on a number of occasions was charging â¬195 for a single room. It is unthinkable that a hotel would increase the price of a room to that extent. The price was not negotiable. We are supposed to be competitive in this sector. If a business person comes to this city, seeks...

Jack Wall: I thank the Minister for that detailed reply. On the last occasion I raised this issue in the House, he did not have as much information and much work has obviously been done in the interim. I am delighted these paintings will go on display.
