Noel Dempsey: The role of the Health and Safety Authority is that provided for in the Health, Safety and Welfare at Work Act 2005 as interpreted by the Courts. The Act provides primarily for the safety of workers in the workplace. The involvement of the Health and Safety Authority in the matters referred to by the Deputy is currently the subject of proceedings in the High Court.
