Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (26 Feb 2019)

Ivana Bacik: It is made difficult for people to cycle here. There are no proper bicycle parking facilities close to the entrances to the building. I will certainly be raising this issue again. I have been raising it for many years and I am getting very fed up at the lack of progress and the apparent lack of commitment to support those who choose to cycle to Leinster House.

Seanad: Judicial Appointments Commission Bill 2017: Committee Stage (Resumed) (20 Feb 2019)

Ivana Bacik: I wish to comment on the unique nature of this occasion where we have the Minister agreeing with Senator McDowell. Senator McDowell has been raising some very significant points about the constitutionality of the legislation. It has been a very useful exercise to listen in to a great deal of the most recent debate. I also extend a welcome to the Minister from Malta and apologise to him for...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Defence: Bilateral Relations between Ireland and Malta: Discussion (20 Feb 2019)

I thank him for his comments on the backstop and echo what colleagues have said about the most pressing nature of the backstop and the issues around Brexit as we count down the days until Britain is due to...

Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (14 Feb 2019)

Ivana Bacik: Up to 60% of the abuse within relationships starts under the age of 25 years. It is important, therefore, that young women be made aware of it. I might look for a debate on it in due course. The 2017 Act only came into effect on 1 January and needs time to bed in, but we could have a debate on it later this year, or maybe in January 2020, to examine how the offence of coercive control is...

They are being supported by their teachers and by members of the INTO as they call for action on climate change under the...
