We should prioritise the evaluation of the spending of a vast amount of money from the State's perspective, not in the administration and operation, but from whether we believe it was the appropriate way to address an issue that is there.

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Housing Assistance Payment: Discussion (15 Dec 2020)
Paul McAuliffe: I thank all the guests, particularly for their day-to-way work, but then to have the bandwidth to be able to consider a policy review of an overall instrument that is really important in the work they do is really useful.
