Select Committee on Health: Health (Assisted Human Reproduction) Bill 2022: Committee Stage (Resumed) (21 Feb 2024)

Róisín Shortall: On a point of order, I think there is a problem with the presentation of these groupings. It is hard to figure out where they start and end. My assumption is that each group ends with a semi-colon. I am sorry this sounds very pedantic, but all the text of amendments Nos. 141 and 143 seems to be included, and then the next three lines.

Select Committee on Health: Health (Assisted Human Reproduction) Bill 2022: Committee Stage (Resumed) (21 Feb 2024)

Róisín Shortall: The presentation of this is very confusing. Does the Cathaoirleach know what I mean? It would seem that the end of a grouping is marked by a semi-colon. Is that the Minister's understanding as well?

Select Committee on Health: Health (Assisted Human Reproduction) Bill 2022: Committee Stage (Resumed) (21 Feb 2024)

Róisín Shortall: It then goes on to the next parts of the text. It is very hard to engage in this debate when there is this confusion. I am not blaming the Minister. I am just saying the Bills Office should be clear about this material. It took me a while to figure out that the end of a grouping is marked by a semi-colon. This is not good enough when there is such a body of work to be dealt with. The...

Róisín Shortall: I am sorry, but it will not be a matter for the Chair because he will not be in control when we are dealing with this legislation on Report Stage.

Select Committee on Health: Health (Assisted Human Reproduction) Bill 2022: Committee Stage (Resumed) (21 Feb 2024)

Róisín Shortall: I think it does to a certain extent. What is the Chair's understanding of this grouping? Are we talking about amendments Nos. 141 and 143 as a group or are the subsequent lines included too? This is based on the email from-----

Select Committee on Health: Health (Assisted Human Reproduction) Bill 2022: Committee Stage (Resumed) (21 Feb 2024)

Róisín Shortall: Yes. Three of the amendments to amendment No. 112 are quite similar. It is, in different places, after "conceive", to insert "and/or bear", and after "treatment", to insert "for uterine reasons. There is a few repeats of that where the question arises.

Paediatric Orthopaedic and Urology Services: Motion [Private Members] (20 Feb 2024)

Róisín Shortall: We very often hear reference made to the fact that seven years ago the then Minister for Health, Deputy Harris, gave a commitment that no child would wait more than four months for spinal surgery. It is worth reminding ourselves of that fact and the empty promise that was made. The same commitment was given by the current Minister for Health two years ago, as I am sure he will recall, but...

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (20 Feb 2024)

Róisín Shortall: I join with others in asking for a special debate this week on the Children’s Rights Alliance report card in respect of children’s mental health services.
