- Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Bill 2009: Committee Stage (Resumed) and Remaining Stages (25 Feb 2009)
Andrew Doyle: The vast majority of the finance secured for the works that took place is from institutions that are guaranteed or recapitalised by the Government. Given that the total amount due is approximately â¬500 million or a little more and accounts for only a maximum of 60% of the total investment, it gives us an idea of the level of borrowing that has taken place. What the Minister has put into...

- Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Bill 2009: Second Stage (Resumed) (24 Feb 2009)
Andrew Doyle: IMPACT held a meeting in Wicklow last night and the message that came across is that people in general and public sector workers in particular want to know the truth. As previous speakers...
- Employment Regulation Orders. (24 Feb 2009)
Andrew Doyle: I accept what the Minister of State said about the JLCs concerning pubs and catering, but how can it be good legislation when there are two separate arrangements? It seems the decisions are based on what the membership consists of. It is the same industry with two separate sets of rules, but that does not seem like good or proper legislation across the country. This matter must be addressed.

- Order of Business (19 Feb 2009)
Andrew Doyle: On the same matter, members of the Joint Committee on Health and Children have unanimously supported funding for the exon skipping trials. Existing legislation will not allow this to happen. There is a genuine willingness to do this. It needs to be moved on. Research has established proven benefits for the people who have undertaken the trials. I urge the Government to speed this up.

- Grant Payments. (11 Feb 2009)
Andrew Doyle: The Minister said 53,000 farmers applied, but the relevant figure is how many animals were applied for. The calculation was on the basis that one would need â¬77 million for a year, yet only â¬44 million was paid out in 2008, because there were animals that carry over.
