Written Answers — Department of Health: Mental Health Services (8 Mar 2022)

Mary Butler: I do not propose at this stage to establish a public enquiry in relation to Kerry CAMHS and the Maskey report. This matter is of the upmost importance to me and the following are the steps I have taken in response to the Maskey report which was the independent report of the review of care provided by South Kerry CAMHS, to satisfy myself, service users, and their families, with the standard of...

Mary Butler: I am in ongoing discussions on the independently-led prescribing audit for each of the CAMHS teams, which I sought as an additional action, beyond the recommendations set out in the Maskey report. It is important to me that this audit is comprehensive and robust. It will cover community and inpatient teams and it will be independently led.  I will continue to liaise closely with the...

Given her absence on official duties, I will provide an update on the matter on behalf of the Minister of State, Deputy Rabbitte. Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Mental Health Services (2 Mar 2022)

Mary Butler: I thank the Deputies for raising this very important issue today. On Deputy O'Rourke's comments, I will check out the situation with the suicide resource officer post vacancy since 2020, and I will revert back to the Deputy on that. I do not have any detail on that today. In relation to Meath mental health services, the HSE provides a wide range of services for adults, children and...

Sharing the Vision, our new mental health policy, is all about support in the community including day hospitals, peer support, crisis cafes, which all play a hugely important role to allow people with mental health issues to live at home. It was unfortunate, which is the only word I can use, that having...
