- Public Accounts Committee: Payments to Section 39 Companies: Discussion (27 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: Why has there been the resistance to disclosing the salaries that are available to senior staff members? This was never about Ms Kerins's individual salary - that may have been her interpretation. It certainly was a matter of keen interest for the media and I understand that. It was probably a matter of keen interest because Ms Kerins was so reluctant to disclose it in the first place....
- Public Accounts Committee: Payments to Section 39 Companies: Discussion (27 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: Ms Kerins is at pains to describe the division of labour within the organisation, rightly or wrongly, and I may agree with that or I may not, but that is an objective fact. The logic then surely follows that the organisation would have an interest, and there is a public interest, in establishing where that money goes, including the level of salaries. Does Ms Kerins accept that?
- Public Accounts Committee: Payments to Section 39 Companies: Discussion (27 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: There is a pattern here with the Rehab organisation. That is reflected in an article in yesterday's Irish Independent, if I may discuss that for a moment, and it was touched upon to a degree by Deputy McDonald earlier, particularly around the necessity to cut pay packets and for wage moderation in the organisation in light of the situation in which the country found itself and in which...
- Public Accounts Committee: Payments to Section 39 Companies: Discussion (27 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: Is Ms Kerins aware that reference was made in the article yesterday, and I would pleased if she would respond to it, to the locks having been changed in the finance department around that time? Was there any connection in terms of that particular dispute?
- Public Accounts Committee: Payments to Section 39 Companies: Discussion (27 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: Yes. That is a reference made in the article. I am sure Ms Kerins has a position on that and that she is aware of it.

- Public Accounts Committee: Payments to Section 39 Companies: Discussion (27 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: So that is wrong?
- Public Accounts Committee: Payments to Section 39 Companies: Discussion (27 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: I wish to move on to the organisation's memorandum and articles of association and I want to refer to three of the articles, 33, 37.1 and 37.2. They generally refer to the fact that directors are explicitly forbidden from receiving remuneration from the organisation. That is a fact, reflected in the organisation's memorandum and articles of association - in articles 33, 37.1 and 37.2, to...
- Written Answers — Department of Finance: Tax Residency Issues (27 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: 61. To ask the Minister for Finance the number of high-net-worth persons who meet the domicile levy criteria with whom it has been in contact in 2013 in order to ascertain the reason they have failed to pay the levy for that year; the number of persons who are considered to be non-resident for tax purposes; the total tax take available to the State if all persons liable to pay the domicile...
- Written Answers — Department of Finance: Revenue Commissioners Investigations (27 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: 62. To ask the Minister for Finance the amount of money that has been obtained in terms of the Revenue Commissioners' audit and investigation programmes in the years 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10120/14]

Gerald Nash: It was an historic issue related to the Dublin Fire Service.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children: Ambulance Response Times: Discussion (25 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: Is that in addition to the 43 in the control centre?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children: Ambulance Response Times: Discussion (25 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: I want to refer first to the capacity review. SIPTU expressed very well, as did committee members, that this was an absolute necessity. I was horrified that there has been no capacity review in recent years in the ambulance service. I stand to be corrected if I am wrong. No capacity review informed the HIQA targets which were set some time ago. It is a peculiar way to operate a service....
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children: Ambulance Response Times: Discussion (25 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: I thank the Chairman for allowing me, as a non-member of the joint committee, to ask questions on this issue of huge importance nationally and to people in my community. If I understood what he had said correctly, Mr. Bell appeared to indicate that a capacity review to inform the development of the ambulance service had never been undertaken. One would not organise a business or make an...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht: Arts Council: Chairman Designate (25 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: I accept that. I am familiar with the work of the Arts Council and I value its work. There is no doubt that we all appreciate its work. As far as I can recollect, it is the Minister's policy that newly appointed members operate on a pro bono basis and I ask everybody to reflect on his policy. That is his own position. I would like to reach the stage where the Arts Council accepts that policy.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht: Arts Council: Chairman Designate (25 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: I welcome Ms Pratschke and I wish her every success. I hope she is appointed as chair of the Arts Council, a very significant body. Her reputation and experience speak for themselves. First, I have a question about a matter that is currently receiving considerable media coverage. I accept that this issue did not occur under Ms Pratschke's watch, but it raises some potential governance...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht: Arts Council: Chairman Designate (25 Feb 2014)
Gerald Nash: It is an external procedure, not an internal one. The disciplinary procedure is in train at present.
