Ceisteanna - Questions - Ceisteanna ar Sonraíodh Uain Dóibh - Priority Questions: National Broadband Plan (10 Oct 2018)

Thomas Pringle: As I understand it we own enet and have been the major shareholders in enet for a long time. It has rolled out the metropolitan area networks across the country and we are shareholders in that, or maybe I am wrong in that. Enet told me that a number of years ago. The Minister can clarify that. In the Minister's own statement he outlined what was wrong with this process right from the...

Thomas Pringle: You can sort that out, Acting Chairman. You can deal with Deputy Stanley.

Ceisteanna - Questions - Ceisteanna ar Sonraíodh Uain Dóibh - Priority Questions: National Broadband Plan (10 Oct 2018)

Thomas Pringle: I am going to use my time anyway, that is for sure. The Minister outlined the problems with the broadband scheme from the very first day when he allowed Eircom to go off and do its own thing. That is the crux of the problem. Eircom did nothing for years in terms of rolling out broadband for its customers and when it saw there was interest from other parties, it rolled it out to a last few....

Financial Resolutions 2019 - Budget Statement 2019 (9 Oct 2018)

Thomas Pringle: As I sat here for the last hour or so listening to my colleagues' analysis of the budget, I was asking myself what value we have in coming in here to criticise the budget. The more I listened to it, the more I was convinced that it is important because I think back to when I was younger, which is a long time ago now, and we would look at these budgets with Fine Gael on one side and Fianna...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action (4 Oct 2018)

Thomas Pringle: I support Deputy Eamon Ryan regarding the points he raised. It is clear from the contributions of the witnesses last week that the committee does not figure in how the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment views the work it is doing, which is a very worrying development. That is no fault of our guests. The situation may be entirely different in the Department of...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action: Third Report of the Citizens' Assembly: Discussion (4 Oct 2018)

Thomas Pringle: A number of the questions I had intended asking have been answered already. The witnesses mentioned interdepartmental meetings that take place at a high level between the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport and other Departments. Are the minutes of those meetings available? If so, where can we find them? Can we find out what is discussed at these meetings? To give an example of...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action: Third Report of the Citizens' Assembly: Discussion (4 Oct 2018)

Thomas Pringle: None of this information is widely available to the public. The Department does not make it available. I wanted to ask about that.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action: Third Report of the Citizens' Assembly: Discussion (4 Oct 2018)
