This arose the context in a discussion with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine in relation to what has happening in Horse Racing Ireland. It is very much within the remit of the Department and this committee, as the Comptroller and Auditor General audits Bord na gCon.

Seán Fleming: For clarification purposes the Comptroller and Auditor General might be able to help us on this. The Valuation Office was before the committee. It is meant to be doing the revaluations. The Valuation Office is not there yet in completing revaluations across the country. The Valuation Tribunal is a separate organisation. Is this the body that handles appeals?

Seán Fleming: In our correspondence on that Vote we want information on the Valuation Tribunal. This is a relatively new office, like the Tax Appeals Office, and we might find that it is just overwhelmed by the amount of business and may not be capable of dealing with it. What has happened with the Tax Appeals Office may also be happening with the Valuation Tribunal, according to what the Deputy is saying.
