- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance and Funding of Football Association of Ireland: Discussion (18 Dec 2019)
Fergus O'Dowd: Someone is going to take over the role of chairperson, which is an onerous task. I will call time after nine minutes.

Fergus O'Dowd: I want to clarify just one point. Reference was made to the stadium and the Minister having first lien on the FAI interest in it. If the company became insolvent or went into liquidation, would it mean that the Government or the Minister would then become the owner of that asset or would it be the creditors? Who would get that asset?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance and Funding of Football Association of Ireland: Discussion (18 Dec 2019)
Fergus O'Dowd: So what would that mean? Would the Government then own the asset if it has a €191 million stake in it?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance and Funding of Football Association of Ireland: Discussion (18 Dec 2019)
Fergus O'Dowd: If it was sold it could mean that any private speculating company could buy in and take ownership of it. The Minister could not reasonably withhold his consent, and nobody would want that either.
