Maternity Services: Motion [Private Members] (3 May 2017)

Fiona O'Loughlin: There is no doubt in saying the time of being born and the time of giving birth must be the most vulnerable times in anybody's life, for the infant being born and the mother giving birth. As a nation, we absolutely owe these women and their children the very best of professional care and support in the highest end hospital with all the necessary equipment should anything go wrong. I will...

Maternity Services: Motion [Private Members] (3 May 2017)

Fiona O'Loughlin: -----to our mother and whatever new sibling had arrived at that point. The hospital was built in 1892. Ultimately, we have to do what is fair to students, their families, universities, and the taxpayer, particularly as the taxpayer has a significant stake in this.

Fiona O'Loughlin: I thank the Senator for that interesting comment. I will not take up too much time myself as we need to get back to the four experts and professionals. I was going to say young people but sometimes older people want access as well. The...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Skills: Higher Education Funding: Discussion (Resumed) (2 May 2017)
