- Seanad: Seanad Bill 2013: Committee Stage (12 Nov 2014)
Marie Moloney: Senator Cummins has already said much of what I intended to say. I agree that unless we initiate electoral reform, the public will not be happy. We have had a lot of operational reform of the House already. Indeed, on the first day of this Seanad, the appointee Members were given the option to stay independent if they wished, rather than accepting the party whip, which was a big move....
- Seanad: Seanad Bill 2013: Committee Stage (12 Nov 2014)
Marie Moloney: Senators from Fianna Fáil had to face their party councillors in the same way as we did and proportionately, Fianna Fáil had more.
- Seanad: Seanad Bill 2013: Committee Stage (12 Nov 2014)
Marie Moloney: Fianna Fáil can do the very same as the Labour Party but today its members seem to be aligning themselves with Fine Gael and likening themselves to that party. To be honest, many members of the public believe that should be the case anyway because Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are actually very alike. That is being confirmed by Senator White today but I would point out to her that it...
- Seanad: Seanad Bill 2013: Committee Stage (12 Nov 2014)
Marie Moloney: We do not have serious competition within our party? Is the Senator suggesting that our candidates do not have serious competition? I certainly would not say that about candidates from my party. I can assure Senator White that there are damned serious contenders out there and one must fight hard for one's seat.
- Seanad: Seanad Bill 2013: Committee Stage (12 Nov 2014)
Marie Moloney: As I said already, Senator Cummins has already made most of the points I wished to make so I will leave it at that for now.
- Seanad: Seanad Bill 2013: Committee Stage (12 Nov 2014)
Marie Moloney: Why would we do that? We are speaking about reform.
- Seanad: Education (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2014: Fifth Stage (12 Nov 2014)
Marie Moloney: We have had a good debate here today and are very fortunate to have the expertise of particular Senators, such as Senators Barrett, Quinn and Craughwell and, indeed, Senator Power in her education brief. The Minister quite clearly addressed their concerns, has agreed to bring a number of amendments to the Dáil based on proposals made by the aforementioned Senators and has said she will...
- Seanad: Education (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2014: Report Stage (12 Nov 2014)
Marie Moloney: I find it bizarre that, when a lone parent raising a child applies for a third level grant to go back to college, he or she to be assessed on his or her parents' means, despite the fact that he or she is a parent himself or herself. This is something we really ought to consider at some stage, if not under this Bill then some other one.
- Seanad: Irish Water: Statements (5 Nov 2014)
Marie Moloney: Can he clarify who he meant when he said "they"?
- Seanad: Irish Water: Statements (5 Nov 2014)

- Seanad: Adjournment Matters: Long-Term Illness Scheme (4 Nov 2014)
Marie Moloney: I thank the Minister.
- Seanad: Adjournment Matters: Long-Term Illness Scheme (4 Nov 2014)
Marie Moloney: I thank the Minister for staying on. He has had a very long afternoon here and has given comprehensive replies to all our questions. I felt it was more appropriate to raise this matter with him through an Adjournment debate rather than to bring it up during the statements. I refer to the i-port Advance medical device. There is no need for me to tell the Minister what it is with his...
- Seanad: Adjournment Matters: Long-Term Illness Scheme (4 Nov 2014)
Marie Moloney: I am glad to see that the device is being considered under the Health (Pricing and Supply of Medical Goods) Act 2013. The Minister might give an indication of when he expects a decision to issue on it or when the expert group will report back. As he will appreciate, parents know this device is available. I understand that it is being used in some of the hospitals, that they are giving it...
- Seanad: Health Services: Statements (4 Nov 2014)
Marie Moloney: I welcome the Minister to the House and I thank him for his detailed report. I admire that he is straight, honest and tells it as it is. That is a good trait. He does not flower it up, rather he tells it as it is and says things are not in a good state at times. I am delighted to hear the Minister give a commitment for an extension of BreastCheck to women between the ages of 65 and 69. I...
- Seanad: Vehicle Clamping Bill 2014: Report and Final Stages (22 Oct 2014)
Marie Moloney: I thank the Minister for bringing the Bill to the House. I reserved my thanks on Committee Stage until today when I knew the Bill was going through. I concur with Senator Barrett on bringing Bills through the House and I thank the Minister in particular for taking on board suggestions and proposals from the Opposition and incorporating them in the legislation. It is great to see the Bill...

Also, on Report Stage, each amendment must be seconded. Amendment No. 1 is a Government amendment which arises out of committee proceedings.
