Mick Barry: No, Minister.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Bus Éireann: Discussion (Resumed) (1 Mar 2017)
Mick Barry: To avert disaster, there should be increased funding of the free travel pass, not 41% and not next year after these tortuous negotiations end. That should be moved up the agenda as a matter of urgency as I said at the start. After five days, where is the urgency? Also, Bus Éireann should be compensated for having to go off the motorways to service towns and villages while competing...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Bus Éireann: Discussion (Resumed) (1 Mar 2017)
Mick Barry: I will back it up with evidence. A bus driver who has worked for decades for Bus Éireann, provided the best years of his life and given good service to the company is, with many others I know, facing pay cuts of €6,000, €7,000, €8,000 or more on the basis of the company's proposals. How can the Minister tell me that is not a proposal for a low wage company?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Bus Éireann: Discussion (Resumed) (1 Mar 2017)

Mick Barry: 315. To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence the number of days leave for each of the years 2010 to 2016 that have been surrendered to the State on foot of paragraph 16 of Defence Force Regulation A11, which limits an annual carry over to 19 days regardless of whether members of the Defence Forces can actually avail of their leave entitlement due to tours of duty, leave cancellation and...
- Topical Issue Debate: Industrial Disputes (28 Feb 2017)
Mick Barry: Tesco gambled that workers would go out on strike but that the public would not support them. They must have been shocked to find that in the stores that were being picketed, the turnover was down by up to 80%. Even in some of the stores that did not have pickets, turnover was down by as much as 30%. They underestimated the ordinary people in this country and the spirit of solidarity. ...
- Topical Issue Debate: Industrial Disputes (28 Feb 2017)
Mick Barry: The Minister of State has appealed for calm so I will start by calmly saluting the thousands of men and women working for Tesco around the country who stood up to intimidation and a campaign of misinformation and took strike action in pursuance of justice in their workplace. I will calmly ask the Minister of State whether he has ever seen a more outrageous campaign of union busting than was...

- Industrial Relations (Right to Access) (Amendment) Bill 2016: Second Stage [Private Members] (22 Feb 2017)
Mick Barry: We will be voting in favour this Bill on Second Stage. We believe it can improve the ability of unions to more fully function in workplaces where they have a membership base. We believe it can be a useful tool against union busting. When we think of union busting, we think of the United States of America where it is a multi-billion dollar industry. We think of companies such as Walmart,...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Situation in Bus Éireann: Discussion (22 Feb 2017)
Mick Barry: A private operator was quoted in a national newspaper a couple of weeks indicating that he got 70%. Bus Éireann gets 40%. To clarify, is Mr. Duggan saying that there are circumstances where private operators would get a greater percentage back on free travel passes than Bus Éireann? Is that possible?
