- Other Questions: Ambulance Service Provision (22 Oct 2015)
Timmy Dooley: On budget day the Minister referred to ambulance service improvements and indicated there would be additional funding, but he did not provide significant detail on that. Will he inform us now whether the mid-west can expect to get additional resources for the recruitment of staff and the provision of new vehicles? As he knows, there has been significant reconfiguration of acute services in...
- Other Questions: Ambulance Service Provision (22 Oct 2015)
Timmy Dooley: I note the Minister is not in a position to provide specific details on the mid-west. I can help in that regard. In Clare alone, there is a shortage of approximately 20 staff and some vehicles are quite poor and need replacement. For that reason alone, I ask the Minister to use his influence for the development of the service plan for ambulance provision over the coming months. Will he...
- Other Questions: Ambulance Service Provision (22 Oct 2015)
Timmy Dooley: I appreciate the Minister's commitment to reconfiguration. One of the main concerns around the reconfiguration process was that the benefits to the system would be realised, but that the potential upside for the patient would not in terms of the provision of ambulance cover. I am confident the Minister understands reconfiguration, but I am not sure the mandarins in the Department of Finance...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Union Affairs: Accountability Report 2014: European Movement Ireland (21 Oct 2015)
Timmy Dooley: I welcome Ms O'Connell and Ms Flynn and thank them for their continued participation in the entire European project with the committee. I have previously given my views on the limitations of the usefulness of the accountability report, which Ms O'Connell has already addressed. It is helpful in pointing in a particular direction, but it by no means gives the overall picture. When material...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Union Affairs: Accountability Report 2014: European Movement Ireland (21 Oct 2015)
Timmy Dooley: I try. However, when the freedom of information request is submitted, it can present a different slant or picture. I would like to see the European Movement Ireland try to develop a methodology that encompasses some kind of opinion. It needs to consider the effectiveness of the committee rather than those who attend or do not attend. It needs to consider how it works overall.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Union Affairs: Accountability Report 2014: European Movement Ireland (21 Oct 2015)
Timmy Dooley: It should not be just the metrics, but the outputs. As an addendum it can point to 61% attendance last year, but it needs to feed in to an overall opinion. The same applies to Ministers' attendance. It needs to take in the broader aspects. However, I compliment European Movement Ireland on its continued effective work.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Sport Ireland: Chairperson Designate (21 Oct 2015)
Timmy Dooley: I thank Mr. Mulvey for his presentation. He has been before the committee before and his reputation precedes him. My party will absolutely support his appointment as chair of Sport Ireland. We are fortunate to have somebody of his calibre, skills and patience to take on the job at hand. Ordinarily, the witness would be able to leave meetings of this kind quite speedily but, unfortunately,...
