Joint Oireachtas Committee on Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs: Creative Ireland: Discussion (17 Oct 2018)

Marie Louise O'Donnell: The programme has not done that yet. I was asking a general question about there being obvious fits. The programme is being allocated a great deal of money for being an all-Government programme, which is right, and it would have an influence on Departments, on the way they do business, communicate or present matters to the public.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs: Creative Ireland: Discussion (17 Oct 2018)

Marie Louise O'Donnell: I ask that the witnesses keep in communication with us because that is something that falls apart. Will they let us know about interesting projects which are being done through the auspices of Creative Ireland in schools or such? We will go as an audience or to see the work the witnesses are doing. It often becomes non-physical when we are not there.

Seanad: Order of Business (16 Oct 2018)

Marie Louise O'Donnell: I also welcome the Charleton report. It is excellent. I agree with Senator Diarmuid Wilson on the victims left behind at times like this, including Maurice McCabe. The former Minister was also in the victim category, although not at the same level. It was very interesting for me to note how women are capable of rounding on other women and bringing them down. I found that fascinating,...

Marie Louise O'Donnell: It is not a case of toning down.

Seanad: Order of Business (20 Sep 2018)

Marie Louise O'Donnell: This morning I was at the Ombudsman's office for the progress report on "A Good Death". I am happy to say that there has been major progress and development in end of life care in Irish acute hospitals. There was a group from Malawi present and they were following the Ombudsman for a week or two to see how he works. Their biggest concern was where they would get food and clean water. I...

Marie Louise O'Donnell: Or gather dust.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Communications, Climate Action and Environment: Impact of Retirement Packages for Postmasters: Discussion (4 Sep 2018)

Marie Louise O'Donnell: It is a brilliant creative financial solution and it is a very good creative combination to make use of the great existing State asset of the post offices. People forget that there is something like €22 billion to €23 billion on deposit in the post offices and another €23 billion to €24 billion in savings. I know it is a savings bank but Irish people recognise a...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Communications, Climate Action and Environment: Impact of Retirement Packages for Postmasters: Discussion (4 Sep 2018)

Marie Louise O'Donnell: I thank Mr. McRedmond and the Minister. I know the post offices are getting a battering but I think they are excellent. I even like the colour of them and the harp. I like the fact they were not based on greed, unlike every pillar bank. We have all been hurt, if not disemboweled, by the greed of the banks. Who are the adjudicators? Where were they found? Who are they? What are their...
