The Minister visited the facility with staff from the HSE, or had a visit with them in November, and sanctioned the funding. We are at the middle of May. The funding has not been received, and it is about to close its doors.

Special Report No. 114 of the Comptroller and Auditor General: Emergency Procurement of Ventilators by the HSE
Vote 38 - Health (11 May 2023) Verona Murphy: In CHO 5, which includes my constituency of Wexford, there are 1,300 service users whose core funding or capitation is between €2,000 and €6,000 per annum. The equivalent 2,391 service users who are school leavers, and who are entering the same facilities and doing the same things for the same length of time, are getting €18,000 per capita. There is a deficit there of...

Special Report No. 114 of the Comptroller and Auditor General: Emergency Procurement of Ventilators by the HSE
Vote 38 - Health (11 May 2023) Verona Murphy: To be fair, I agree with Mr. Gloster that this is a policy and legislative matter, on which I am working. However, I would expect him to advise the Government it is not sustainable. When a policy or legislation is introduced, whether by my group in the Dail or whomever else, it needs to be accepted and it needs to be part of a plan.

Verona Murphy: I concur with Deputy Catherine Murphy that many of the engineers who are supposed to go to the site to confirm everything is done and connect the water are doing their own thing. They can hold up development or houses being handed over for months.

- An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (9 May 2023)
Verona Murphy: Last night, I attended a meeting of Reachability in Enniscorthy along with two colleagues, Senator Malcolm Byrne and Deputy James Browne. It is a section 39 facility and, as we all now know, our section 39 facilities are very vulnerable. They are not entitled to same the funding as section 38 facilities. The staff are being depleted by section 38 facilities and the HSE. They are just...
- Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (9 May 2023)
Verona Murphy: When the Taoiseach says it depends on the Government, he must acknowledge that he is the Taoiseach. The buck stops with him. He is the line manager of the Minister for Health. He says what comes and what goes. This has been in train for almost ten years. We now know that, according to Dr. Mick Molloy, the 97-bed block is not even sufficient capacity for the growth rate of the population...
- Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (9 May 2023)
Verona Murphy: I again ask the Taoiseach about Wexford General Hospital. He will be aware that the restoration process is ongoing. He visited the hospital when the fire occurred and assured the management and people at that time that all stops would be pulled out to ensure not only restoration but that the new 97-bed block extension would be built as soon as possible. All the politicians in County...
