Written Answers — Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth: Emergency Accommodation (26 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: 272. To ask the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth if he will urgently review the situation regarding accommodation for families (details supplied) to ensure that a bus will bring a child to school and that the accommodation being offered is appropriate; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3790/23]

Written Answers — Department of Health: Covid-19 Pandemic (26 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: 305. To ask the Minister for Health if he and officials from his Department will meet with representatives from the Mater long-Covid clinic (details supplied) and will he make a statement in relation to this. [3793/23]

Ceisteanna - Questions: Taoiseach's Meetings and Engagements (25 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: I ask again about the refugee discrimination the Government is engaged in. Why is a person from Ukraine more entitled to be accommodated than a person from Yemen or Syria, when both are fleeing similar conditions? The Taoiseach earlier said it was because they have a different status but it is a political decision of the Government to give them such a status so it does not answer the...

Ceisteanna - Questions: Cabinet Committees (25 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: The action plan on bullying refers to progress in providing safe and supportive school environments for LGBTQ+ students. My question to the Taoiseach is, what will the Department do in circumstances where that is not the case and where there is, in the words of the staff of the Spiritan-run Templeogue College, a toxic culture and atmosphere? I will quote from a collective grievance...

Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation (25 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: I want to ask the Taoiseach about the incredible decision that people coming from Syria or refugees from elsewhere in the world other than Ukraine will have to sleep on the streets when Ukrainians, correctly, but it should be the case for everybody, will have emergency accommodation available to them. How can the Government justify such discrimination? Is it because the Ukrainians are...

Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation (25 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: That is scandalous. The Government is bowing to the far right.

Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation (25 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: You have to take a stand against it. It is scandalous.

Ceisteanna - Questions: Cabinet Committees (25 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: 4. To ask the Taoiseach when the committee that deals with education will next meet. [3409/23]

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: General Scheme of the Industrial Relations (Provisions in Respect of Pension Entitlements of Retired Workers) Bill 2021: Discussion (25 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: I thank the witnesses for coming before the committee, for their presentations and for their campaigning work on this issue. Barely a week goes by when I do not get letters from constituents about this issue. The phrase "Nothing about us without us" sums up this issue. As someone made the point earlier - I think it was Mr. Collins - we are dealing with deferred wages in this case. That is...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: General Scheme of the Industrial Relations (Provisions in Respect of Pension Entitlements of Retired Workers) Bill 2021: Discussion (25 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: I will make one other point about that. The suggestion made earlier, which is often made in this debate, is that this is really about the underfunding of pension schemes. It seems to me that is a conflation of two issues. Sometimes there may be an overlap of those two issues. I understand this can arise in situations where there is no question of underfunding of pension schemes...

Written Answers — Department of Finance: Tax Collection (25 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: 80. To ask the Minister for Finance his views on a matter regarding a tax payment (details supplied). [3450/23]

Written Answers — Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection: Community Employment Schemes (25 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: 117. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection further to Parliamentary Questions No. 681 of 8 November 2022, if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this issue is of great urgency given that the cost-of-living crisis has placed a significant burden on all supervisors and assistant supervisors, and there has been no increase in wages since 2008; his views on...

Written Answers — Department of Health: Dental Services (25 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: 176. To ask the Minister for Health if a dentist who is registered in both Ireland and the United Kingdom is obliged to notify the Dental Council if they are struck off in the UK; if they are entitled to continue practising in Ireland in such circumstances; and if he will outline the continuous vetting procedures followed by the Dental Council to ensure that registered dentists are fit to...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: General Scheme of the Industrial Relations (Provisions in Respect of Pension Entitlements of Retired Workers) Bill 2021: Discussion (25 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: I presume the witnesses have seen the submissions by other organisations on this issue, for example from IBEC and so on. Do they have opinions on those?

Forestry Sector: Motion [Private Members] (24 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: I thank Sinn Féin for bringing forward this motion opposing the disgraceful deal entered into between Coillte and Gresham House. It seems that there is no crisis where the Government does not think that equity funds is the solution. With housing and climate; who does it call? It calls equity funds. Its neoliberal mantra is that private capital and profit making are the solution...

Human Tissue (Transplantation, Post-Mortem, Anatomical Examination and Public Display) Bill 2022: Second Stage (24 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: We welcome the Bill and its key provisions. The provisions to support and increase organ donation and transplant through a soft opt-out system of consent are welcome and should ensure many more organs become available for transplant. That is obviously very good news for the more than 500 people in Ireland who are on waiting lists for organ donation. In 2021, there were 203 organ donations...

Statement by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform (24 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: Last week, the Minister told the House he sold them.

Statement by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform (24 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: Did Michael Stone help with postering in the 2019 local and European elections?

Statement by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform (24 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: Fine Gael was involved in an election. This is a guy who makes donations in the form of putting up posters for Fine Gael in the 2016 and 2020 general elections but he does not do so in 2019. He only seems to get involved when the Minister is standing for election. Is that right?

Statement by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform (24 Jan 2023)

Paul Murphy: Okay, so they look like donations to the Minister as opposed to Fine Gael. Just to confirm, the Minister is saying that the donations of the assistance of the labour, worth €972 in 2020, and the use of the vans, which were €434.20 in 2020, were donations to Fine Gael as opposed to the Minister.
