Neale Richmond: Thank you, a Chathaoirligh, for allowing me to make a brief intervention this afternoon. Much has been said already and I do not intend to repeat any questions. I want to pick up on some points made in the opening statement and flesh them out. The first point arises from an infrastructural point of view. How many employees does Hockey Ireland have? What is the aspiration when it comes...

Neale Richmond: Are there more shared municipal facilities in Ulster? I remember playing a cricket match in Ballyclare, where the facility catered for cricket, tennis, hockey, rugby and football. It was unique because it was the only sports ground in the town. Should we be looking at that across all sports and not just specific to hockey.

Neale Richmond: I rise today to raise the extremely worrying situation in Malta and the ongoing refusal of Prime Minister Muscat to step aside and allow a proper independent investigation into what is the most flagrant breach of the rule of law in the European Union today. I specifically mention the report of a delegation of the European Parliament led by my colleague, Roberto Mazzolo, which found that...
- Seanad: Nithe i dtosach suíonna - Commencement Matters: Early Childhood Care and Education (4 Dec 2019)
Neale Richmond: This issue has dominated headlines and is a cause of increasing concern. I have a personal interest in the matter as the parent of a young child attending childcare and the spouse of a childcare provider. Although my wife does not operate her own facility, she works in the sector. I have received a significant number of emails and calls on the issue and will meet several providers this...
- Seanad: Nithe i dtosach suíonna - Commencement Matters: Early Childhood Care and Education (4 Dec 2019)
Neale Richmond: I appreciate the Minister's clarification, particularly on future capital funding that is coming on stream. However, a couple of issues still need to be addressed, one being communication with providers. We have to remember that the vast majority of childcare providers are not even SMEs; they are one- or two-person operations. They are facing an administrative tsunami. When dealing with...

Neale Richmond: Gabhaim buíochas leis an gCathaoirleach. I thank both of our guests for joining us and for their very enlightening and indeed frank presentations. I will start in reverse order. The Republic of North Macedonia is a country that I have some familiarity with. In a previous life I was on the joint consultative committee with the then former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, FYROM, with...

I am grateful to both the Tánaiste's activities within this House and, indeed, those of the Minister of State, Deputy McEntee, and all the officials in both the Department...

Neale Richmond: I join with others in warmly welcoming Senator Pippa Hackett to the Chamber, as well as her family. No doubt she has big shoes to fill in terms of following former Senator Grace O'Sullivan but I have no doubt she is up to the test. On a happy note, I warmly congratulate the Irish women's hockey team on their wonderful qualification for the Tokyo Olympic Games. I was very fortunate to spend...
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (5 Nov 2019)
Neale Richmond: -----the most important person there, to my mind, was my young niece, April, who was attending not only her first international hockey match but the largest international women's sports match in terms of attendance ever held in this country. It was a wonderful day for her to see absolute heroes on the pitch, fulfilling their aspirations to qualify for the Olympics and proving a real example....

Neale Richmond: Before I call Mr. Chestnutt, I am aware that Mr. Healy's term as president is coming to an end. I very much enjoyed sitting alongside him at Brexit stakeholder meetings over the past two years. I wish our paths had crossed so often in happier circumstances. I wish him well into the future. Let the games begin for the campaign for his successor.
