- Social Welfare Bill 2022: Second Stage (Resumed) (23 Nov 2022)
Richard Boyd Barrett: The simple fact about the situation for the vast majority of people on middle and low incomes, working people, or people dependent on pensions or social welfare is that they will be worse off next year than they were this year. This is the fundamental fact. As much as the Government may try and bedazzle people with a long list of measures it has taken to try to mitigate the absolutely...

- Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (23 Nov 2022)
Richard Boyd Barrett: Many thousands of people will come out on the streets for the Raise the Roof demonstration because of the failure of the Government to address the absolutely diabolical housing and homelessness crisis. I have brought to the Gallery some of the people for whom this is a life and death matter. Deputy Bacik may not have been aware that some of the residents of Tathony House she referred to are...
- Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (23 Nov 2022)
Richard Boyd Barrett: I ask the Taoiseach to look those people in the eyes. There has to be a solution. They have done nothing wrong. They paid their rent, they worked and they paid their taxes. The Taoiseach cannot say that there may not be an answer because of this legislative shortcoming or that legislative loophole. If people's incomes, for example, are under €53,000, even according to the...

To ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade if his attention was drawn to the disrespect shown to the Irish flag by the Israeli occupation forces, acting on behalf of the Israeli government, during its raid on the Ramallah offices of a human rights organisation (details supplied); if so, if he conveyed his objections to the Israeli government through diplomatic channels; if his...
- Declaration of a Housing Emergency: Motion [Private Members] (22 Nov 2022)
Richard Boyd Barrett: I am sharing time with Deputies Paul Murphy and Mick Barry. In the middle of a debate on an unprecedented and utterly dire housing and homelessness emergency, the Minister responsible for housing said there is no emergency and has now left the debate before it is over. If people did not have enough reasons to come out on the street this Saturday for the Raise the Roof demonstration, that...

Richard Boyd Barrett: We campaigned for that for years.
- Report of Committee of Selection: Motion: European Council (22 Nov 2022)
Richard Boyd Barrett: For the record, when Bertie Ahern was shaking the hand of Vladimir Putin, some of us were protesting outside the Russian embassy about Putin's bloody and murderous invasion of Chechnya. I did not see the Taoiseach there. We are consistent. He is right when he says we are against illegal annexations in eastern Ukraine by Russia. Nobody should facilitate such things; he is right. Next...

- Report of Committee of Selection: Motion: Departmental Offices (22 Nov 2022)
Richard Boyd Barrett: I note the Taoiseach mentioned climate change and security. I wonder did he raise the point that the single biggest institutional emitter of CO2emissions in the world is the United States military. Did he raise the point that major military powers are not even required to reveal their CO2emissions? We count everybody else's emissions but we do not count the US military's emissions.
- Report of Committee of Selection: Motion: Departmental Offices (22 Nov 2022)
Richard Boyd Barrett: Because there have been estimates done which suggest it produces about 51 million tonnes per year but it is not required to reveal that. I find it amazing that the Deputy would even joke about something as serious as that. Did the Taoiseach ask for that? How does he tally his commitment to increase military expenditure and the EU's commitment to increase military expenditure when there is...
