Fergus O'Dowd: I thank Mr. Finucane for his clear and incisive summary of the situation for his family and indeed, the whole country. As he rightly said, successive Irish Governments have fully supported the call for an independent inquiry, particularly in view of the commitment given at Weston Park in 2001. It is absolutely imperative that this committee now discusses the motion.
