Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (16 Nov 2023)

Brian Stanley: That would be a good start. Are there any other issues members wish to raise for the work programme for now? Okay, just keep an eye on it for the new year. That concludes our consideration of the work programme. Is there any other public business? Okay. Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation (15 Nov 2023)

Brian Stanley: I want to raise with the Taoiseach support for the LGBT community. Funding under the community services fund, which is very important, is supposed to have a rural dimension. The Midlands LGBT+ Project, which runs a dedicated service for four counties in the midlands - Laois, Offaly, Westmeath and Kildare - is the only service for the LGBT community in those counties. It provides services...

Escalation of Violence in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory: Motion (Resumed) [Private Members] (14 Nov 2023)

Brian Stanley: I welcome the opportunity to contribute on this motion. What we have seen over the past six weeks in the Middle East has shocked all decent people in the world, including in this country. I condemn the actions of Hamas on 7 October and its attacks on Israeli civilians. In particular, I extend my sympathy to the family of Kim Damti. They are related to the Cooper family in Coolrain near...

Brian Stanley: That means 40,000 retrofits a year between 2023 and 2025 and 75,000 over the final five years. Is that correct?

(9 Nov 2023)

Brian Stanley: The figure of 38,000 retrofits has been given, but only 8,400 deep retrofits were completed in 2022 to a building energy rating, BER, of B2. Is that correct?

Chapter 8: Performance of Certain Residential Retrofit Schemes
(9 Nov 2023)

Brian Stanley: If we are talking about 500,000 deep retrofits and we have done 8,400 in 2022, what is the schedule to ramp that up? At that rate you would achieve just under 60,000, which is one ninth of the target for deep retrofits.

(9 Nov 2023)

Brian Stanley: Many of those will require deep retrofits to achieve a BER B2 rating. It would be a fair assessment to say that many of the houses that are being done are not the worst cases. Brian Stanley: I hear Dr. Byrne's reply. However, what is not clear from the reply is that if most of them require a deep retrofit, how will you go from just over 8,000 in a year that was Covid-free, to 70,000 or 80,000 a year? How are you going to multiply that by ten?
