- Questions on Promised Legislation (6 Dec 2017)
Mick Barry: We have seen the draft document for Culture 2025 and we are being told the document is being finalised. The draft document contains no mention whatever of Traveller culture. The new Minister with responsibility for this portfolio was sharply criticised last week, including from these benches, for previous comments and actions relating to Travellers and Traveller rights.

- Public Service Pay and Pensions Bill 2017: Committee Stage (Resumed) (5 Dec 2017)
Mick Barry: I will be brief. I welcome the fact that the Government will have to come back to the House and present a report which will give us an opportunity to continue the debate. It will also give young teachers and their unions an opportunity to exert more pressure on the Government on this issue. However, I want to comment briefly on a point that the Minister made in his speech which has not...

- Public Service Pay and Pensions Bill 2017: Committee Stage (Resumed) (5 Dec 2017)
Mick Barry: We are, but in a proper and balanced way I want to make a point to the House. We are told that we are extreme and that the Deputies on the opposite benches are the moderate Deputies, the parties of the centre.
- Public Service Pay and Pensions Bill 2017: Committee Stage (Resumed) (5 Dec 2017)
Mick Barry: "The reasonable Deputies", that is right. Is it not interesting that, on the basic simple principle, which would have the support of the overwhelming majority of ordinary decent people in this country, equal pay for work of equal value, the people who are taking the extreme position are the Minister of State, Deputy Alan Farrell and members of their party, and the people taking the...
- Public Service Pay and Pensions Bill 2017: Committee Stage (5 Dec 2017)
Mick Barry: I support Deputy Seamus Healy's amendment, the effect of which would be the complete repeal of the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Act 2013. It is hard to believe the legislation underpinning the declaration of a financial emergency is still in place in 2017. In less than a month we will be in 2018, but the first reports that the recession was bottoming out and that a...
