Diarmuid Wilson: There is no fee charged for registering a septic tank but there is a fee of €100 for the assessment. I am glad to clarify that for the Minister and I hope he will accept it and correct his contribution to the House. Cavan County Council has in operation a panel of independent assessors. Diarmuid Wilson: There are independent assessors at present and the maximum fee they charge is €100. The desludging takes place every 18 months for a normal-sized house. The fee for this is between €80 and €100. That is my clear understanding having spoken to staff in the council. To date, the rate of compliance with the by-laws is 33%, which is very high for a voluntary code.
