Telecommunications Services. (23 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: While I feel like something of a broken record on this issue, there is nonetheless a number of questions I would like to ask the Minister about recent events. We know now that there will be a judicial review following a challenge taken by a satellite broadband company to the terms of reference for the national broadband scheme. Can the Minister outline what the basis of that challenge is?...

Telecommunications Services. (23 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: Perhaps the Minister can comment on the timetable.

Telecommunications Services. (23 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: Is it the industry or the consumer that makes the case?

Telecommunications Services. (23 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: I have a question that will require a short answer. What will households be asked to pay under the national broadband scheme? Will it be an average market price, such as €15, €20 or €30 per month? Will it be the same across the country? How is the price determined per household or per business for the provision of broadband under the broadband scheme?

Telecommunications Services. (23 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: And on price.

Telecommunications Services. (23 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: Surely they know what they are tendering for.

Written Answers — Special Educational Needs: Special Educational Needs (22 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: Question 331: To ask the Minister for Education and Science her policy on July provision of special needs education for children in their homes, in the context of the fact that in 2007 there was some difficulty in confirming that special needs assistants could provide this role and there is concern that a problem may arise again in 2008; and if she will conform that SNAs will be sanctioned...

Airport Development Projects. (22 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: I hope I will get more direct answers to the question I raise.

Airport Development Projects. (22 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: I hope the Minister of State will take this issue seriously.

Airport Development Projects. (22 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: The problem is that the Minister of State is making a joke out of an issue and will not let me speak on it. Deputy Michael Ahern is one of the Ministers who has allowed Cork Airport to be saddled with a debt that it should never have had, because of lobbying from the Dublin Airport Authority, and from Dublin Deputies.

Airport Development Projects. (22 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: The Minister of State failed. He shall have his opportunity in a minute and I look forward to hearing what he has to say. The reality is that back in 2003, the Minister made the right decision, split up Aer Rianta and set up three independent airports at Cork, Shannon and Dublin — to provide some competition between them. It was also a correct decision to go ahead with the new airport...

Airport Development Projects. (22 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: That was not on, was it?

Airport Development Projects. (22 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: This is a joke.

Airport Development Projects. (22 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: Will the Minister of State have the decency to answer in the 30 seconds still remaining? I asked the Minister of State to outline contacts the Minister has had with the chairman of the board. He has not mentioned this once.

Airport Development Projects. (22 Apr 2008)

Simon Coveney: That was what I asked about, but the Minister of State gave us a history lesson.
