Catherine Murphy: The Commissioner has talked about the pipeline but really we should look at the net numbers. Obviously a large number of people are exiting and, in fact, exiting mid-career from the Garda. Taking account of the difference between the number of new recruits and the number who have left, the net increase between 2020 and 2023 was just 300 people.
