Ivana Bacik: I return to the question of the national maternity hospital. First, I thank the Minister, Deputy Stephen Donnelly, for his engagement with the Labour Party Parliamentary Party yesterday evening. We were very appreciative of the opportunity to engage with the Minister, clinicians and legal advisers to hear more about the Government's proposals, to dig into the legal documents somewhat and to...
- Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (12 May 2022)
Ivana Bacik: We are convinced of the clinical need for the new maternity hospital; I think all of us are. All of us want the same outcome, which is a state-of-the-art, fit-for-purpose new national maternity hospital for women's healthcare in Ireland. We have heard why that should be at the St. Vincent's site. However, it is time to call the bluff of the owners of that site. It is time to call them...

Ivana Bacik: Members now have the option of being physically present or may join via Microsoft Teams from their Leinster House offices but may not participate in the meeting from outside the parliamentary precincts. If joining on Teams, I ask members to mute their microphones when not speaking and use the raise-hand function to indicate. To limit the risk of spreading Covid-19, all members, visitors and...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Gender Equality: Recommendations of the Citizens’ Assembly on Gender Equality: Discussion (Resumed) (12 May 2022)
Ivana Bacik: I do not know who would like to respond on that. I am conscious recommendation 31 of the assembly relates to gender stereotyping in media under this heading.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Gender Equality: Recommendations of the Citizens’ Assembly on Gender Equality: Discussion (Resumed) (12 May 2022)
Ivana Bacik: I thank Ms Exton. I have other colleagues indicating. - Joint Oireachtas Committee on Gender Equality: Recommendations of the Citizens’ Assembly on Gender Equality: Discussion (Resumed) (12 May 2022)
Ivana Bacik: It is a huge concern for us. We dealt with the module on sexual- and gender-based violence already. Clearly, this cuts into that. I am conscious Senator Higgins wants to come in. I thank Ms Exton and Ms Neville for sharing those insights with us. As the mother of teen daughters, it is chilling to hear about and to know what is going on at school level. There is a great deal, as Ms...
