Bernard Durkan: I wish to bring a bit more modern reason to the thinking here, bearing in mind the sensitivities in the area in question. That somebody was elected does not necessarily mean he has ultimate and uncontrollable power. I can think of at least one gentleman who was elected in Europe in the past 70 or 80 years who certainly did not prove to be a democrat when it came to the test.
