John Curran: This cannot be brought forward by way of an amendment. I gave the explanation for that but the Deputy was not here at the time. This amendment would pose a charge on the Exchequer which is not permitted under Standing Order 179(3), and the amendment cannot be moved at this time. I now need to proceed to deal with the section.

The unintended consequence might be a loss to the person unfairly dismissed, and I do not think anybody wants that.
