Imelda Munster: Does Ms Finnegan have any further information on that?
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Engagement with Screen Ireland (22 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: I thank Ms Finnegan. Do either of the witnesses know how many of those currently on the board have applied and how many were successful?
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Engagement with Screen Ireland (22 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: Perhaps Ms Bergin can furnish us with that.
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Engagement with Screen Ireland (22 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: Do either of the witnesses know whether board members applying and receiving funding is a regular occurrence?
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Engagement with Screen Ireland (22 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: I would appreciate it if Ms Bergin furnish us with those details. The reason I raise it is there is a view in some quarters that many of the same small number of screen producers succeed in getting funding year on year and many film producers feel excluded. Is Ms Bergin aware that this view is out there or does she plan to take steps to address those opinions or both?
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Engagement with Screen Ireland (22 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: If Ms Finnegan could furnish us with that breakdown too, it would be greatly appreciated. I probably have only a few seconds left. Ms Finnegan stated very often it is producers with a track record. The question then is, how is anybody ever supposed to get a good start if funding is prioritised for producers that have a track record or they are the most likely ones to get it? How is it...

Imelda Munster: I would greatly appreciate it if Ms Finnegan could furnish me with all of that and the responses to my questions. Is my time up, Chair?
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Engagement with Screen Ireland (22 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: I wanted to ask the effects of the pandemic on the industry in terms of finances, job losses etc. How hard has the industry been hit by all of it?
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Engagement with Screen Ireland (22 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: That is great news.
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Challenges Facing the Coach Tourism Transport Sector as a result of Covid-19: Discussion (22 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: I thank the Chair and I welcome our guests. I see some stark figures from June in the submission we received from the CTTC. It is stated that 40% of operators are planning to sell their coach fleets this year, for example. Do the witnesses have updated figures for the losses those companies have experienced? I refer to aspects such as average debts and the scope of the financial hardship...
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Challenges Facing the Coach Tourism Transport Sector as a result of Covid-19: Discussion (22 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: Mr. Buckley stated that for many businesses the Government support only covered overheads for two or three months. How did they manage aside from Government supports? Did they take out loans or sell asserts? Were there job losses? Does Mr. Buckley know the percentage of businesses that closed?
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Challenges Facing the Coach Tourism Transport Sector as a result of Covid-19: Discussion (22 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: Mr. Buckley referred to the job losses. Obviously, there were losses but does he have a figure or a percentage of the number of job losses? Can he give us a sense of what 2022 will look like for his industry?
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (21 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: Given the number of issues concerning education and training boards and procurement, and how often they would have indicated that much of what is being reported has been brought within a procurement framework, I wonder whether the Comptroller and Auditor General believes it might be worthwhile comparing non-compliance across education and training boards in 2019 in 2020, just to see if or how...
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (21 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: Thanks, Chair. Assuming the person or people involved are known to the committee and possibly have been in correspondence with members over recent months, could we write to them to get their permission? We could withhold judgment based on the responses we receive.
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (21 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: Okay. Thanks, Chair.
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (21 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: The report accepts our recommendations regarding Miesian Plaza, but the letter states that the OPW has had an initial meeting with the landlord and a further one is due. Throughout Covid, when we were pressing the OPW to have a meeting, it was not even prepared to use Zoom or anything else. Given that correspondence was sent almost two months ago, could we write back seeking an update on...
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (21 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: Yes, but we should seek an update as soon as possible.
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (21 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: I find the response from the Department quite worrying. It seems to have no interest in a body which it funds when that body is opening up potentially very significant liabilities. I accept that RTÉ is an independent statutory body, but on the one hand it is going cap-in-hand to the Government with the Government seemingly uninterested in getting value for money. On the other hand,...

Imelda Munster: The responses from DkIT over the potential use of the ice rink or the potential that could come from it are disappointing. Across the country we have seen the benefits that top-tier sports facilities can provide for both teams and third level institutions. It was disappointing DkIT did not see the appeal of such a thing. Looking at the correspondence from the Irish Ice Hockey Association, I...
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (21 Sep 2021)
Imelda Munster: The proposal concerns the correspondence we got from the Irish Ice Hockey Association. Its view differs greatly from that of DkIT. It flagged the missed opportunity and lack of co-operation. Could we copy the correspondence to both the Department and DkIT and seek their responses to it? We are now in a situation in which Sport Ireland is looking at the potential of providing an ice hockey...
