Bertie Ahern: On 18 December, 1973, the Government established 70 years of age as the normal upper age limit for persons to be appointed to Boards of State-sponsored bodies. The position regarding the age limit for such appointments remains unchanged and it would be matter for the Minister for Finance in the first instance to bring any proposals to change this to Government.
