- MRSA Incidence. (18 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: I thank the Tánaiste for that information. The increase in the number of MRSA cases being reported is startling and we all recognise there is under-reporting. I take it we are only talking about hospitals whereas information in regard to nursing homes and the wider community is not included. Therefore, I presume the figures should be much higher. Does the Tánaiste accept the news that five...
- MRSA Incidence. (18 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: The Tánaiste did not answer my question on the number of fatalities.
- MRSA Incidence. (18 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: I would have thought this was significant information that one should have.
- MRSA Incidence. (18 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: While I do not want to delay, I ask that the Tánaiste reconsider this approach. I have no doubt that people die from MRSA but it is not being attributed as the cause of death. We need to know how many because there are clearly cases of individuals who have died from MRSA. It is simply unacceptable that the Minister for Health and Children is unable to tell us how many such cases there are.
- Medical Cards. (18 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: Having heard the Tánaiste say she does not believe in universal benefits, was the reason she supported the over-70s medical card scheme to attract votes in the last general election? She seemed to be overriding her natural inclination against universal benefits. The Government promised 200,000 medical cards. When will we get them?
- Medical Cards. (18 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: When will we get them?
- Medical Cards. (18 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: The Tánaiste did the deal. Where was she then?
- Vaccination Programme. (18 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: I thank the Minister of State for his comprehensive reply, much of which was not requested. It was an interesting lecture in the background to the issue. Can I have the attention of the Minister of State?
- Vaccination Programme. (18 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: While 48,000 doses of the booster vaccine will be available this October, 180,000 children need it. The immunisation committee is concerned by this. It wrote to the Department in July but this is the amount we are informed about now. Rather than concentrating on extraneous items, how soon will those 180,000 children be provided for? Has the Health Service Executive received the additional...
- Vaccination Programme. (18 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: There are 48,000 doses available now. Within the six months of the campaign, will full cover be provided and accessed by the children in question? Is that what the Minister is saying? A campaign can be many things. I am asking about the release of vaccines.
- Vaccination Programme. (18 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: Is that the 48,000 doses?
- Vaccination Programme. (18 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: When will it come? That is not much comfort to those not among the 48,000 to receive the vaccine.
- Vaccination Programme. (18 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: Campaigns are one thing. I asked about the delivery of vaccines. There are problems with vaccines in other areas. All I want to know is when the Government will have the full complement.
- Vaccination Programme. (18 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: I would be grateful if the Minister of State would.

Liz McManus: Question 33: To ask the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism his views on proposals for reform of structures of the Abbey Theatre; his further views on the latest efforts being made to address the financial and managerial crisis at the Abbey; if State funding for the Abbey is dependent on the implementation of these reforms; and if he will make a statement on the matter. - Order of Business. (13 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: We have been seeking information about home helps for quite a long time and have been unable to get it.
- Order of Business. (13 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: The Tánaiste should know this. She is the Minister and it might be of interest to her.
- Order of Business. (13 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: I have three questions to ask the Tánaiste. Everybody in the House will agree that the framing of Mr. Frank Shortt was one of the most disgraceful miscarriages of justice and one of the worst examples of Garda abuse imaginable. He received an award yesterday which many people feel was relatively modest considering his ordeal. What action is being taken to bring those responsible to court?...
- Order of Business. (13 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: Forging evidence is a criminal offence.
- Order of Business. (13 Oct 2005)
Liz McManus: The Tánaiste might like to take the opportunity to reply to that point. My second question concerns a decision made by the Competition Authority on 11 October about waste management and the Greenstar company in particular. There is a strong statement from the Competition Authorityââ
