- Select Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community: Bille na dTeangacha Oifigiúla (Leasú), 2019: Céim an Choiste (Atógáil) (9 Mar 2021)
Pa Daly: Aontaím leis an Teachta Ó Snodaigh mar gheall ar leasuithe Uimh. 99 agus 100. Tá fonn ar na gnáthdhaoine na leasuithe sin a chur sa Bhille. Iarraim ar an Aire Stáit na leasuithe sin a chur sa Bhille ar Chéim na Tuarascála.
- Select Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community: Bille na dTeangacha Oifigiúla (Leasú), 2019: Céim an Choiste (Atógáil) (9 Mar 2021)
Pa Daly: Aontaímid go léir gur chóir go mbeadh Gaeilgeoirí in ann seirbhísí sláinte a fháil trí Ghaeilge, go háirithe sa Ghaeltacht, beagnach 100 bliain ón uair a gheall an Stát seirbhísí Gaeilge a sholáthar sa Ghaeltacht. I measc na seirbhíse sláinte, ní amháin gur chóir go mbeadh dochtúirí...
- Select Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community: Bille na dTeangacha Oifigiúla (Leasú), 2019: Céim an Choiste (Atógáil) (9 Mar 2021)
Pa Daly: Baineann an leasú seo leis an ealaín. Cén costas sa bhreis atá i gceist leis seo? Thug an tAire tacaíocht don ealaín cheana. Níl ráite leis an bhforáil seo ach gur chóir é sin a dhéanamh d'ealaín trí Ghaeilge freisin. Cuirim fáilte roimh na deontais a fhógróidh an tAire, and Teachta Catherine Martin,...
- Select Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community: Bille na dTeangacha Oifigiúla (Leasú), 2019: Céim an Choiste (Atógáil) (9 Mar 2021)
Pa Daly: Is léir go bhfuil fadhb shuntasach ag baint le cúrsaí Gaeilge i measc baill An Gharda Síochána. Is é an cás is measa atá léirithe i dtuarascáil an Choimisinéara Teanga ná nár glacadh le moltaí uaidh ó 2011 go fóill. Beidh orainn aird a thabhairt ar an bhfadhb seo nuair a sheolann an coimisinéir tuairisc...
- Select Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community: Bille na dTeangacha Oifigiúla (Leasú), 2019: Céim an Choiste (Atógáil) (9 Mar 2021)
Pa Daly: Bhí mé ag léamh an deireadh seachtaine seo caite mar gheall ar an bhfile Roibeard Ó Fearacháin, a bhí ina stiurthóir cláracha in RTÉ 60 bliain ó shin. Cad a cheapfadh sé mar gheall ar an meon aigne atá ag an Rialtas mar gheall ar RTÉ? I gcás RTÉ, is craoltóir poiblí dhátheangach é agus ba...

- An Ghaeilge agus An Ghaeltacht: Ráitis (3 Mar 2021)
Pa Daly: Tá áthas orm a bheith anseo ag caint le linn Seachtaine na Gaeilge. Tá a lán ceisteanna reatha ag baint leis an teanga. Ba mhaith liom comhghairdeas a dhéanamh le clann Margaret Keane tar éis an bua a bhí acu sna cúirte i Sasana. Rugadh in Éirinn í ach fuair sí bás i Coventry, áit a chaith sí an mórchuid dá...

- Select Committee on Justice and Equality: Criminal Procedure Bill 2021: Committee Stage (2 Mar 2021)
Pa Daly: There seems to have been a slight amendment. Pretrial hearings are, in general, a good idea because they will make sense in sorting out a lot of issues so juries will not be hanging around, especially in long cases. There is a reference in the legislation to arraigning the accused person if it is felt to be appropriate. We feel that should be tightened up a little. An issue could arise...

Pa Daly: Subsection (6) contains the wording "where it considers it appropriate", while subsection (7) contains the wording "as it considers appropriate in the interests of justice”. Perhaps subsection (6) could also include the wording "where it is in the interests of justice”.
- Select Committee on Justice and Equality: Criminal Procedure Bill 2021: Committee Stage (2 Mar 2021)
Pa Daly: No, but I may return to it at a later Stage.
- Select Committee on Justice and Equality: Criminal Procedure Bill 2021: Committee Stage (2 Mar 2021)
Pa Daly: I move amendment No. 3: In page 9, to delete line 18. The amendment relates to subsection (8)(c), which provides that "Without prejudice to the generality of subsection (7), the trial court may, at a preliminary trial hearing, make any one or more" of a number of orders, including "a relevant order". What is a relevant order or what is envisaged by that?
- Select Committee on Justice and Equality: Criminal Procedure Bill 2021: Committee Stage (2 Mar 2021)
