- Leaders' Questions (10 Dec 2013)
Micheál Martin: Listening to RTE Radio's "Liveline" programme the other day was a harrowing experience for many people. The broadcast featured Louise Mac An tSaoi, the mother of Liam Mac An tSaoi, a young child who is spending his fourth Christmas in Crumlin Children's Hospital. This is as a result of the failure of the health authorities to provide the necessary supports and funding to enable Liam to go...
- Leaders' Questions (10 Dec 2013)
Micheál Martin: These are shocking cases. No mother should have to go on "Liveline" to highlight such a case, which has shocked many people. Will the Taoiseach ensure that the Government provides the requisite resources to enable Liam Mac An tSaoi and other children in similar situations to return home this Christmas? Will the Taoiseach change his policy direction on the health service? He is ploughing...

- Order of Business (4 Dec 2013)
Micheál Martin: I will ask Martin Wall in The Irish Times.

Micheál Martin: On a point of order, did the Tánaiste say it would be debated in the House?

- Order of Business (4 Dec 2013)
Micheál Martin: I am seeking the Tánaiste’s guidance on a correction to the record of the House, or at least for him to provide much-needed clarification of a matter. On 20 November 2013, in a response to a question I posed on Leaders' Questions on the Government’s cull of discretionary medical cards, the Taoiseach stated:The Deputy makes the charge that there has been a change of policy,...
- Order of Business (4 Dec 2013)
Micheál Martin: Yes, but I will relate this to the programme for Government.
- Order of Business (4 Dec 2013)
Micheál Martin: It is a serious issue. Every Member has been besieged by members of the public who have had their medical cards taken from them inexplicably. It has affected everyone from young children with multiple disabilities to people with motor neuron disease. The cases that have come before Deputies and Senators are quite extraordinary.
- Order of Business (4 Dec 2013)
Micheál Martin: All we get is official denial. The annual health service plan has been with the Minister for some time. I understand the director of the HSE sent a seven-page letter to the Minister which addressed the Government’s policy on medical cards and the figures put in on budget day, which seem to be made up. When will we see the publication of the health service plan?
- Order of Business (4 Dec 2013)
Micheál Martin: Will the Tánaiste agree to a full debate on the health service plan?
- Leaders' Questions (4 Dec 2013)
Micheál Martin: I thank the Tánaiste for his comprehensive response. I agree entirely with the sentiments articulated in the statement. I thank him for the clarity of his reply. The Smithwick inquiry has proven to be effective and has come to a conclusion that is both shocking and sickening and is a betrayal of the many members of the Garda Síochána who made such sacrifices in the fight...
- Leaders' Questions (4 Dec 2013)
Micheál Martin: The conclusion of the Smithwick tribunal that unidentified members of An Garda Síochána colluded with the Provisional IRA in the murder of RUC officers Chief Superintendent Harry Breen and Superintendent Bob Buchanan is truly shocking and sickening. It represents a terrible betrayal of the thousands of members of An Garda Síochána who down through the years made many...
