Finian McGrath: I have considered the findings of the Task Force on Personalised Budgets and intend to publish its report in the near future.  The Government is committed to improving services and choices for people with disabilities and I am satisfied that the preferred option is to test the use of personalised budgets for adults with disabilities, in the first instance, as recommended by the task force.

Finian McGrath: The provision of panic buttons or personal alarms is not a matter for my Department. I understand that Pobal, funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development, provides personal alarms for people over 65 years and older through the Seniors Alert Scheme. No such scheme is in operation for the under 65's.
