Aindrias Moynihan: The point on compassion has been well made on this amendment. The amendment appears very reasonable and it even takes into account cases where there are issues and it is not practical. I listened to what the Minister had to say on it. It would be reasonable and compassionate to give pain relief in this situation. I ask him to clarify the point Deputy Butler raised.

Aindrias Moynihan: The R587 is a key access route for west Cork along which traffic passes through Crookstown and Coppeen. There is great concern the route at Ardcahan Bridge which often floods with the result that the road is closed. Action must be taken to improve matters and to prevent flooding from blocking the road.
