Bríd Smith: I refer to section 2(d) in the amendment: "in which the person is engaged in sexual activity". We would like to add in there "or depicted as being engaged in sexual activity" because these things can be Photoshopped or tampered with or images that do not exist can be attributed to people.

Bríd Smith: I move amendment No. 8: In page 4, line 14, to delete “his or her” and substitute “their”. It is self-explanatory that we delete "his or her" and substitute with "their" and that covers all gender types and identifications, in line with what is currently relevant. I want to push this amendment. It degenders the issue.

Bríd Smith: If the Minister has given a commitment to look at it, and I understand the language is new and not frequently in law, I will accept that. I will also accept it if she returns on Report Stage to amendment No. 11, which proposes to extend the wording to “ known to each other”.
