Jerry Buttimer: What about winter flights to the sun out of Cork? Again, there was a high load factor in the past. Is that tied down?

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Situation at Dublin Airport: Discussion (26 Jul 2022)
Jerry Buttimer: In the context of that conflict of advice, the August bank holiday weekend is coming. I congratulate DAA on the Hopper award this week which ranked Dublin Airport as the fourth best performing airport in Europe. I am glad we have come from the debacle of early summer to this. Do you envisage going back to where we were in the August weekend? Can we have confidence we will not be where we were?

Jerry Buttimer: Has DAA taken the comments of others today on the cleanliness and the tidying up at the airport on board?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Situation at Dublin Airport: Discussion (26 Jul 2022)
Jerry Buttimer: In the context of the winter and the ongoing global aviation issue and given the centrality of that airport to the airline, the Heathrow slot has created huge problems for Aer Lingus. From an Aer Lingus perspective, does the airline have confidence in the resilience of the airport and ground handlers for the winter?

- Seanad: Air Navigation and Transport Bill 2020: Committee Stage (Resumed) (14 Jul 2022)
Jerry Buttimer: On a point of order, will the Leas-Chathaoirleach explain that because I do not understand? What is the import of Senator Craughwell's suggestion?

- Seanad: Air Navigation and Transport Bill 2020: Committee Stage (Resumed) (14 Jul 2022)
Jerry Buttimer: I want to make one comment to the Minister of State on the review mechanism. We often get amendments in the House from Senators Higgins or Ruane on a six-month review or to have a report back after six months. Is that being ruled out completely? I will speak on peer support only and I will not come back in again. The issue of health and well-being is important and despite what Senator...
- Seanad: Air Navigation and Transport Bill 2020: Committee Stage (Resumed) (14 Jul 2022)
Jerry Buttimer: I want to support the Minister because in fairness, in his letter to us in June, Mr. Jim Gavin of the IAA, made it very clear that "the IAA will conduct continuing oversight of the implementation of the regulation in accordance with the EU regulations." The letter went on to state that: "The proposed amendment mandates the IAA to conduct a review, not later than 12 months after the...

Jerry Buttimer: The Senator should stand up.
- Seanad: Air Navigation and Transport Bill 2020: Committee Stage (Resumed) (14 Jul 2022)
Jerry Buttimer: There is concern among air traffic controllers about the vesting date. We have seen the intervention of Mr. Kieran Mulvey, complete engagement with the mediation process and so on. Has that process concluded or how stands it? The vesting date is an important issue for staff members. They are of the view that having a vesting date without a resolution of the issues is putting the cart...
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (13 Jul 2022)
Jerry Buttimer: They are moving to the centre, in any event.
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (13 Jul 2022)
Jerry Buttimer: I endorse the comments made by Senators Carrigy and Martin in asking that the Minister of State at the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Deputy Chambers, is invited in here for a debate on the future of Irish boxing. Notwithstanding the reasons pertaining to the decisions made at the EGM last weekend, those of us who love boxing and support the sport are...
