- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Overcrowding Crisis in Hospitals: Discussion (9 Mar 2022)
Cathal Crowe: I agree fully. Can I go back to that question a small bit in terms of how the hospital is managed? Is it effective or ineffective to be remote from the hospital site in terms of having oversight? Does it matter to nurses? I really want to get to this. I have another follow-up question in a moment. Does it matter? Can a hospital be managed remotely?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Overcrowding Crisis in Hospitals: Discussion (9 Mar 2022)
Cathal Crowe: Would an elective-only hospital alleviate the burden of pressure that the mid-west is feeling at the moment? Incredibly, while Sláintecare recommended elective-only hospitals for Dublin, Cork and Galway, the mid-west and UHL, with 700,000 people funnelling through it under huge pressure, have no such recommendation.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Overcrowding Crisis in Hospitals: Discussion (9 Mar 2022)
Cathal Crowe: I thank Ms Ní Sheaghdha. I am done with my questions but some witnesses are indicating. That is in your control, Chairman. If others want to respond I am more than happy to hear their responses.

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Travelling in a Woman's Shoes Report: Discussion (9 Mar 2022)
Cathal Crowe: I welcome our guests and thank them for attending and for their very informative opening statements. In particular, I welcome Dr. Leva, whom I have known for a long time. I am great buddies with her husband from my college days. It is great to see her here on screen in the Houses of the Oireachtas. In reference to public transport, she stated "many will reject it, as we have seen more...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Travelling in a Woman's Shoes Report: Discussion (9 Mar 2022)
Cathal Crowe: The doctor, of course, brings an Italian perspective, which is interesting. I have travelled around Europe and seen people providing security on trains. They are robustly clothed in stab-proof vests. They have a real authority and the trains feels safer as a result. Does Ms Cahill have an opinion on these matters? Should alcohol be served on trains? Is the day of the bag of cans being...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Travelling in a Woman's Shoes Report: Discussion (9 Mar 2022)
Cathal Crowe: Yes.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Travelling in a Woman's Shoes Report: Discussion (9 Mar 2022)
Cathal Crowe: I appreciate the reply. There is a lot in the report and I will finish with a question about design because I know that is important but I want to home in on the safety aspects. I love the train. I take it three or four times a week to get from Clare to Dublin. I love it, but I have also seen some hairy episodes, examples of illegal, criminal and thuggish behaviour. People who should be...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Travelling in a Woman's Shoes Report: Discussion (9 Mar 2022)
Cathal Crowe: I thank Ms Fox for her reply. She has been very honest. I hope she will change her position on that. TII carries a fair degree of clout. National policy trickles down from the organisation all the way to local authorities. The days of the Ford Fiesta or Renault Clio reversing into a space and a family of five getting out of it are, unfortunately, gone. Because of stipulations from the...

- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Heritage Sites (3 Mar 2022)
Cathal Crowe: I thank the Minister of State. I am reassured by the commitment but it needs to be backed up with subvention. Clare County Council wants to fulfil the wishes of Government and is fully engaged and committed to this. When it carried out due diligence, it revealed structural damage like cottage roofs falling in and the castle roof in poor repair, as well as umpteen things across the grounds...

- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Heritage Sites (3 Mar 2022)
Cathal Crowe: How does the Minister propose, through his Department, to support Clare County Council and other local authorities in the mid-west as they take over the running of the iconic Shannon Heritage sites in the region?
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Heritage Sites (3 Mar 2022)
Cathal Crowe: The genesis of all this is a Cabinet decision taken in June 2021 that the sites would transfer from the Shannon Group, which always has its eyes on aviation and what happens in the skies. In recent years, however, it has also run the heritage portfolio in the mid-west. That has probably been a distraction, and Covid has exposed that. Everyone in the region wants this to be a success, but...
- Comóradh Sheachtain na Gaeilge: Ráitis (2 Mar 2022)
Cathal Crowe: I rith Sheachtain na Gaeilge, tá sé fíorthábhachtach go mbeadh díospóireacht againn sna Tithe seo ar ábhar na teanga agus an treo ina bhfuil sé ag dul. Molaim an tAire agus an tAire Stáit as an sárobair a bhfuil siad ag déanamh chun tacú leis an teanga. Roimh an toghchán bhí mé ag obair mar mhúinteoir bunscoile...
