Bernard Durkan: The Garda Síochána (Compensation for Malicious Injuries) Bill is due and is a moot point at a time when the risks gardaí take in the course of their duty is clearly noted. I refer not just to the recent death but also to the number of gardaí who have been injured. During the past five years, 2,100 gardaí have had to take time off and sick leave due to injuries...
