LGBTQI+ and Equality: Statements (23 Jun 2022)

Thomas Gould: I delighted to be able to speak on the LGBTQI+ community, about our strategy and to listen to the Minister. To be fair, he spoke about many positive things. I certainly recognise that. To echo what Deputy Funchion said, we are in a much better place than we were when I went to school. A great deal of work remains to be done, though, and we all recognise this as well. I send my solidarity...

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Passport Services (23 Jun 2022)

Thomas Gould: The number of passport applications coming in from the North just goes to show the need for a passport office in the Six Counties. I ask the Minister, the Department and the Government to look at that need. As for the Minister's comments about a new passport office in Cork, I suggest that if it is not to be in the city centre, it be on the northside. The reason for that is that a study...

Thomas Gould: Will the Minister provide an update on affordable housing in Cork city? Is he satisfied with the progress the scheme is making?

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Housing Schemes (23 Jun 2022)

Thomas Gould: Cork City Council was only set a target of 78 affordable homes on average each year between now and 2025. That target is too low. Something the Minister has to be very aware of and the Government has to be extremely careful of is that they are creating the expectation for people who are trapped in a housing crisis that affordable homes and cost rentals will be delivered.
