Central Bank (Supervision and Enforcement) Bill 2011: Report and Final Stages (13 Jun 2013)

Pearse Doherty: I take the Minister of State's point in regard to my amendment No. 70 that the reference in section 62 to "such conditions or requirements or both as the Bank considers appropriate" would seem to allow the Central Bank to require these entities to publish their fees and charges. If he can tell me that this will actually happen, that is fair enough and there is no need to press the amendment....

Central Bank (Supervision and Enforcement) Bill 2011: Report and Final Stages (13 Jun 2013)

Pearse Doherty: I thank the Minister of State for his note on those amendments. They are improvements on what was in the original Bill. I am glad that the position we put on Committee Stage has been agreed to, in particular regarding whistleblowers and offering them respect while at the same time ensuring it does not curtail the necessary investigations. I am happy to support the amendments.

Pearse Doherty: I move amendment No. 43:In page 48, between lines 22 and 23, to insert the following:“ 'debt collector' means a person who for remuneration collects or seeks to collect consumer credit debt;”.This deals with debt collectors, as does amendment No. 70. Central Bank (Supervision and Enforcement) Bill 2011: Report and Final Stages (13 Jun 2013)

The legislation now...

Leaders' Questions (13 Jun 2013)

Pearse Doherty: This morning the coastal communities of Passage East and Dunmore East are mourning the deaths of three brothers, Paul, Kenny and Shane Bolger. On behalf of Sinn Fein and, I am sure, all Members of the House, I express my condolences to their families and friends. We all know that no coastal community is immune to such tragedies. My home county of Donegal has seen its fair share of...
