- Fisheries and Coastal Communities: Statements (17 Jun 2021)
James O'Connor: I am sharing time with Deputy Ó Cathasaigh. An extensive part of the constituency of Cork East is coastal. The communities involved in the fisheries in Youghal and Ballycotton, in particular, have expressed significant concern to me about the level of investment in our local coastal infrastructure. From the standpoint of the aquacultural and marine activity in my constituency, I am...
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Road Projects (17 Jun 2021)
James O'Connor: I thank the Minister for his reply. I wish to point out a couple of issues to the Minister. The first is the Castlemartyr and Killeagh N25 potential upgrade that could be contained in the NDP review. Killeagh is not included in any of the replies I have received from the Department. All the Department acknowledges is Castlemartyr. I accept that the feasibility study only covered...
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Road Projects (17 Jun 2021)
James O'Connor: With regard to the Cobh access road, it is important to take the opportunity to acknowledge that project. The existing infrastructure to access Great Island and the town of Cobh is utterly under-resourced. It is not up to scratch, and the council will say that. The engineers who have been looking at this for the past number of years will also say it. A significant amount of funding is...

I want to use this important opportunity today, before the Government finalises the review of the national development plan, once again to push for the critical infrastructure projects that are badly needed in the constituency of Cork East. It is incredibly important that the Government gives priority to the Cobh access road and the Castlemartyr and...

I wish to say to Dr. Holohan and the members of NPHET that there is no doubting the fact that some of the measures we have put in place have saved very many lives throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. However, it has to be said that the group of witnesses before this committee, and I appreciate them coming before us today, need to...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Rapid Antigen Testing: Discussion (Resumed) (16 Jun 2021)
James O'Connor: If we are going to be doing this in universities, surely we could be doing this sooner in settings such as matches and music festivals. Why can we not implement some of the findings of that report?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Rapid Antigen Testing: Discussion (Resumed) (16 Jun 2021)
