- Seanad: Order of Business (22 May 2008)
Mary White: I am pleased that the Leader has arranged for a meeting on older people. I have asked three times already for a discussion on the position of 1,000 Irish prisoners abroad. I would like the Leader to let me know this morning whether he will arrange to hold a debate. I am Fianna Fáil spokesperson for children in this Chamber. We have free national school and secondary educationââ
- Seanad: Order of Business (22 May 2008)
Mary White: The Senator should not talk nonsense. We have free third-level education. We are neglecting the education of children up to the age of five. I would like the new Minister of State with responsibility for children to attend the House. Let us all participate in the debate the way we did with the Minister for Health and Children when she was here.

- Seanad: Order of Business (23 Apr 2008)
Mary White: It was my first experience of being able to ask a Minister direct questions. I had raised the matter previously of how to make the statement sessions more innovative and would welcome more such sessions, with Ministers answering direct questions. I am disappointed in Senator Norris describing Senator Callanan, in his absence, as a person of little political significance.
