Report of the Joint Committee on Transport and Communications: Motion (8 Nov 2013)

John O'Mahony: I thank the Minister of State and other Deputies for their contributions to this valuable debate. All sides had an opportunity to express their opinions. Other Questions: Driving Licence Issues (7 Nov 2013)

John O'Mahony: I wish to back up what Deputy O'Donovan just said. The headquarters of the RSA are in Mayo but there is not a centre in Ballina, for instance. Perhaps that could be examined. The bookings initiative is welcome because an initiative of that kind sorted out issues at the Passport Office a number of years ago. It would help in this instance also.

Topical Issue Debate: Job Losses (6 Nov 2013)

John O'Mahony: I thank the Minister for his extensive reply, which dealt with some of the specific questions we put. On the wider issue, I understand that certain commercial issues cannot be discussed here. However, the kernel of the matter seems to be procurement. If, as the Minister said, the company has made a commercial decision not to tender, there is an issue in that regard. I welcome many of the...
