- An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (3 May 2023)
Colm Burke: There is a difference of €744 per bed per week between the cost of a nursing home bed in a public nursing home and the cost of such a bed in a private nursing home. - Select Committee on Health: Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Bill 2022: Committee Stage (3 May 2023)
Colm Burke: If I may come in, I wish to raise the issue of recognition and the grandfather clause. A problem arose before the Minister’s time on the specialist register in the medical profession. I think a three-month period might be a bit too short. I am not sure of the Minister's view on it, even if the time was extended to allow the Department to deal with the issue.
- Select Committee on Health: Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Bill 2022: Committee Stage (3 May 2023)
Colm Burke: I have no difficulty in principle but the period of three months is way too tight. In fairness to the Department there is a fair bit of work involved in that. If the three-month period was modified I would certainly take serious consideration of the amendment but that timeframe is far too tight.
