- Order of Business. (15 Jun 2006)
Liz McManus: On behalf of the Labour Party, I welcome the conclusion of an agreement. However, it is astonishing that an agreement that extends over ten years and covers a swathe of public policy has not at any point been subject to public scrutiny. We still have not seen the agreement. It appears that the media received this information ahead of the public representatives in this House who have been...
- Order of Business. (15 Jun 2006)
Liz McManus: I wish to raise two items. There are three weeks remaining in the session. According to the legislative programme, 16 Bills were promised for publication during the session. Four have been published. Does the Tánaiste feel like old mother Hubbard and that there is nothing in the legislative cupboard? Is that the problem? Certainly committees are idle. Legislation that is urgently needed...

Liz McManus: The second point I wish to raise concerns the Barr tribunal report which was promised in March. The unfortunate John Carty was killed in 2000. The tribunal finished its hearings in 2004. Will the Tánaiste explain, since the tribunal was set up by the House, the reason for the delay? It is a mystery to everybody, certainly to those on this side of the House, as to what is causing the delay....

- Human Rights Issues: Motion (Resumed). (14 Jun 2006)
Liz McManus: "Extraordinary rendition" is an invented phrase used to disguise the brutal transfer of prisoners and the defamation of human rights. The Minister for Health and Children, Deputy Harney, established an inquiry into the tragic death of Pat Joe Walsh, and the report was promised within weeks. We are now waiting months and there is still no sign of it.
- Order of Business. (14 Jun 2006)
Liz McManus: The Ceann Comhairle allowed Deputy Durkan to raise the matter a minute ago. I ask for parity of esteem. With regard to the report on the Leas Cross nursing home, which is also long overdue, I recall that in the past a mechanism was used to publish such reports. An example was in the area of sex abuse in swimming where a report was referred to the committeeââ
