- Select Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Local Government Bill 2018: Committee Stage (5 Dec 2018)
Michael Collins: In other words, there will be no Bill on this matter before the Dáil and this is a fait accompli. The decision has been made regardless of the constituency. In Cork South-West, places such as Courtmacsherry, Timoleague and other areas have seen boundary changes made without the will of the people. I want to know where I can discuss that.
- Select Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Local Government Bill 2018: Committee Stage (5 Dec 2018)
Michael Collins: It is a huge issue. I do not believe this is a very democratic process. The people from my area of west Cork, and I presume many more constituencies, want to know-----

- Select Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Local Government Bill 2018: Committee Stage (5 Dec 2018)
Michael Collins: I move amendment No. 94: “Blarney Tower and adjacent hinterlands 29. That the Blarney Tower and adjacent hinterlands should remain within the Cork County Council Area and not be transferred to the City Area. This would result in a population of 6,357 remaining within the County administrative area (based on the census 2016).”. I will try not to delay progress on this Bill...

- Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) Bill 2018: Report Stage (Resumed) (5 Dec 2018)
Michael Collins: While amendment No. 46 has been tabled by pro-life Deputies, in reality, it is the very model of a pro-choice amendment as it seeks to ensure that where a pregnant woman is considering a termination, she would, before making a final decision on parenting, adoption or a termination, be fully informed of her choices. We know that this is regularly not the case. Many women who have had an...

Despite that, and...
- Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) Bill 2018: Report Stage (Resumed) (4 Dec 2018)
Michael Collins: If my fellow Deputies are concerned with the possibility that a young girl under the age of 16 could have an abortion without the knowledge or support of her parents or guardians, then I implore them to support the amendment. The amendment is about parental notification. Deputy Coppinger spent her seven minutes talking about doctors and issues that happened over the weekend. We do not want...
