- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach: Developments in the Insurance Industry: Discussion (19 May 2021)
Neale Richmond: I thank the witnesses and appreciate their time. There are many areas and colleagues will cover other issues so I will keep my questions quite specific. My question is for Mr. O'Midheach from FBD on something he referred to quite extensively in his opening remarks that I want to tease out, namely business continuity insurance. I have three questions. First, why is FBD still arguing over...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach: Developments in the Insurance Industry: Discussion (19 May 2021)
Neale Richmond: I am also referring to the Central Bank indicating that FBD should pay the full costs of the test cases. Can Mr. O'Midheach provide clarity on that?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach: Developments in the Insurance Industry: Discussion (19 May 2021)
Neale Richmond: Does Mr. O'Midheach not appreciate these businesses have been closed and they are struggling immensely? The costs saved by FBD by the test cases, rather than multiple cases, means it is in the company's interest as well as the businesses involved to have the issue of costs resolved as soon as possible.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach: Developments in the Insurance Industry: Discussion (19 May 2021)
Neale Richmond: Could Mr. O'Midheach break down the difference between the interim and immediate payment? How does it make up the €11 million?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach: Developments in the Insurance Industry: Discussion (19 May 2021)
Neale Richmond: To be clear on my question, of the €11 million that has been paid out, what is the breakdown? Is it all interim payments? Mr. McMahon referred to the user-friendly portal and the three-day turnaround? What is the split between interim and secondary payments in the €11 million?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Union Affairs: Ireland and the EU 2021 Poll Results: Discussion (19 May 2021)
Neale Richmond: I thank Ms O'Connell for her presentation and for carrying out this research. I have a few questions that will build on what Deputy Haughey raised. I was struck that 84% of respondents support remaining, which is, statistically, more or less the same as the referendum result in 1972 that led to Irish accession to the European Communities. I acknowledge there have been a couple of changes...

- Recent Cyberattack and its Impact on the Health System: Statements (18 May 2021)
Neale Richmond: Before I begin, I am very lucky to have known the Minister of State, Deputy Smyth, for quite some time. We were on the county council together and it is very reassuring to see his professional background being used, so I take the opportunity to pay him credit, as I do all the HSE staff for their response in this area because it is often overlooked. My questions follow on from some of...

- Ballymurphy Inquest: Statements (18 May 2021)
Neale Richmond: I appreciate the opportunity to contribute on this timely and poignant debate. In my brief time as a Member, I have never been more struck by a debate where there has been such a unified opinion across the Chamber as well as such genuine compassion for the people at the heart of this scandal, the bereaved families of those ten innocent people who were murdered in Ballymurphy 50 years ago....
- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Special Educational Needs (18 May 2021)
Neale Richmond: I thank the Minister for the thorough reply. I ask her and the Minister of State, Deputy Madigan, to collaborate with the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Deputy O'Gorman, to determine where there is a clear need for a joint approach. When there is early diagnosis and early intervention, children are not getting the supports they need to allow them to...
- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Special Educational Needs (18 May 2021)
Neale Richmond: Much of what I have to say is complementary to what Deputy Costello said but comes at it from a slightly different angle. The main issue I have to raise is access and inclusion model, AIM, staff for children with ASD in early years education at the very start of their national school education. For a Montessori school to take on a child with ASD, it requires AIM staff who have further...
