Is there any restriction on the number of orthopaedic procedures hospitals can carry out in a year? Once the target of X number of hip or knee replacements is reached, are hospitals limited in terms of carrying out additional procedures?

Vote 38 - Health (Supplementary) (6 Dec 2017) Michael Harty: In terms of waiting lists, is it possible that when a referral is made to an outpatient department, an indication would be given on receipt of the referral of when the patient would be seen? Unfortunately, a referral is made and no information is given to the patient or the referring doctor about how long the patient must wait for. An appointment could turn up in six, nine, 12 or 18 months....
